Topic: IM vs. Chat
Will compare the use of instant messaging software (a.k.a. IM software) to web-based chat software (e.g., Tutor.com, OCLC's QuestionPoint, Docutek's VRL). Many libraries have begun to drop their expensive chat software in favor of IM software; others are trying to use both IM and web-based chat at the same time. This meeting will examine the pros and cons of all three options (IM only, chat software only, IM and chat software together). For background on using IM software for reference, see the IM Reference page in this wiki. Details
